Pop-Up Recap: Book Sale at the Alliance Française de Chicago

This August, Odéon Livre held its second-ever popup store. The Alliance Française de Chicago provided an incredible space for the event, just as it did for our début in March. While Odéon’s booth at the Salon du Livre featured select works from the Classiques and Bilingue collections, this event featured Jeunesse books exclusively.

It was a pleasure to interact with francophones and francophiles of all ages who call Chicago home. Some stoppers-by were students at the Alliance’s school, while others were native French-speakers. Regardless of background, shoppers at the book sale shared a passion for French literature, making them “my kind of crowd”.

Best of all, the next generation of francophones was in attendance. L’Arc-en-ciel de Vincent and Les Quatre Saisons de Monet were a favorite of parents, but kids seemed particularly attracted to the bird on the cover of Chirp-Chirp-Cui.

The star of the show?

Another eye-catcher was Oui Love Animals, the very first book in the Oui Love Books series. Making an appearance later in the evening were C’est mon travail, K Comme Koala, and the rest of the Oui Love French series.

The next Odéon Livre event will be this Saturday, September 8th, once again at the Alliance Française de Chicago.
